Below are feedback and assignments from some of the first course participants (started 2007). More will be published as the course progresses. Participant feedback 'I am very happy being a part of this challenging adventure!' 'In time through my work and personal life I developed a keen interest in the processes of intercultural interactions, which stimulated me to read Hofstede's "Software of the Mind" and then Michael Minkov's "What Makes us Different and Similar". I am looking forward to lifting the obsolete screens that prevent me from seeing all the colours of the intercultural kaleidoscope.' 'I feel the need to learn more especially now when in my work of a consultancy company co-manager I am in between two realities - the BG production world and our European customers world. Kind of challanging! We often joke at work that the most important in our business is the ability to "manipulate the translation" '. 'I am close to the end of Unit One. It is very interesting! They are so many questions which I haven't asked myself before but felt the need to go deeper. And I got the possibility. Thank you!'Course assignments Assignment 1: Write an essay on your choice of metaphor and explain how it reflects your self perception and understanding of the Translator/Interpreter Tanya Popova - Sailing in the Seas of Context Marina Tacheva - On the Fidelity Issue, The Translator as a Sailor Petia Doneva - An Attempt to contemplate Fidelity |
