Managing Diversity
As part of the HR Training Academy of the Bulgarian Human Resources Management and Development Association (BHRMDA) Aha Moments will host the seminar Diversity Management on 11 March 2010 in Sofia.

The trainings under the new HR Academy Programme aim to ensure knowledge succession and professional development of the HR community. There will be 21 trainings divided in 5 thematic modules focussing on a wide range of HR competences. The full list of trainings and their schedule is published here.

Who is the programme for

This Diversity management training is for HR directors and managers, as well as for experts and consultants in this field.

The overall goal of this training event is, through interaction with good ideas and practices, to enable the participants to enhance their awareness of how to engage with effective management of diversity in the direction of

i) accepting and acknowledging explicit and tacit differences;
ii) managing difference; and
iii) optimising the potential of diversity for the organisation and its employees.

As a result of the training the participants will
  • understand why they need to develop diversity and equitableness in their respective  organisations;
  • be familiar with the basic ideas of diversity management, the opportunities it affords and its challenges;
  • be able to use a specific method for diversity management in different contexts, including those of international teams and organisations where cultural difference is the norm;  
  • have drawn a short-term (diversity management) action plan to implement in their organisation. 
Key themes within the progarmme:
  • Organisational climate  - explicit and hidden;
  • How can we tell whether there is discrimination and prejudice in the organisation?
  • Motivation for the active management of diversity;
  • Diversity competence - assessing and developing individual skills for diversity sensitive organisations
  • DiversityIcebreaker - a new instrument for communication awareness across cultural difference;
  • Implementing diversity management: developing processes and structures which make it possible to leverage the resources of diversity.
